Prototype Manufacturing and Exploring Implementation of Biodiesel in the Willamette Valley
The project of the OSU Biodiesel Initiative Team (OSUBIT) is to produce quantities of biodiesel significant enough to run the OSU shuttle. A batch production method will be employed reacting used cooking oil with methanol. We are using a two-stage method that involves both acid and base catalysts. It is hoped that this method will have higher conversion and form a more pure product than other standard batch processes.
