Course Learning Objectives

After completing this course, the student should be able to:
  1. Apply the basic principles of graphic design, information design, and user interface design to create Web sites that are aesthetically pleasing and easy to navigate.
  2. Use a Web authoring tool to create HTML-based Web sites that incorporate tags, lists, tables, images, links, fonts, graphics, animation, and sound.
  3. Be able to construct a variety of Web sites that communicate clearly and effectively to their target audiences.
  4. Publish a Web site on an Internet server.
  5. Understand the limitations associated with Web media and be able to articulate the tradeoff between lowest-common-denominator and high-end Web presentations.
  6. Understand the basic issues related to intellectual property in Web publishing

Grades
  • 4 homework assignments @ 2.5%
  • 4 projects @ 10%
  • 1 midterm exam
  • Proposal for final project
  • Final project     Due by 1:50 pm on Monday, December 5.

Final grades are based on the accumulated percentage.  See the evaluation criteria and grading scale.  Quiz, exam, and final grades may be adjusted linearly if it seems appropriate.
