CS 162, Spring 2004
Homework Number 0
Due: Friday, April 2, in class

Introduction

Write a two or more page essay in which you introduce yourself. Questions you might want to address include the following: Tell me where you came from, why you decided to attend OSU, what your interests are, what hobbies you have. What is your major? What do you intend to do after graduation? What would you like to be doing in five or ten years?  If you need more topics, you might want to address some computer science issue of the day, such as why the number of women in CS has declined in the past ten years, or whether the government and/or music industry should be allowed to know what files you keep on your computer, or whether the sharp reduction in the number of H1-B visas is a good or bad idea. Or, you can use your own approach to introducing yourself.

In a separate section of your report I want you to tell me what your previous programming experience has been. What languages you know, how many years experience you have with each, whether for each you would consider yourself a novice, capable, or expert programmer.

Finally, at the end of your report give me a four to six letter name I can use on the web page to post your grades. Names should be unique, known only to yourself, easy to remember, not obscene.

Grade will be based on appearance and quality of presentation, not content. Use a word processor. Imagine that I'm a potential employer, and you want to impress me. Use a spell checker. Check your grammar. If you have one you might want to attach a resume. (Resume is optional, don't bother writing one if you have not done so already).
