Announcements
- August 14th: The submissions for the final project have really been phenomenal! Since some of you have given me permission to share them, I've posted them online. Now you can see what some of your classmates have been working on. :)
- July 8th: The schedule has been significantly updated. I moved a couple of chapters forward so that we can get to the graphical interface sections sooner. We'll start to cover that next week, but it still won't be on the midterm (which is next Friday, the 18th).
- June 28th: I updated the description of Project 1 to include a hint, in case the calculated day of the week isn't accurate. If you have any questions, feel free to use the mailing list or come to my office hours on Monday, 9:30-11:00am in the KEC atrium.
- June 25th: For today's lab, here are links to the software we'll be installing. I'll also have a USB thumb drive with these on it.
Eclipse: Windows | Mac OS X
Java: Download JDK 6 Update 6 for Windows here. Mac OS X already has Java installed.
SSH: Windows | Mac OS X (You'll need to sign up for the free educational license)
- June 23rd: I've checked with the library; they have a copy of the 2nd and 3rd editions of the textbook on reserve. I'll update the schedule with the reading chapters for the 2nd edition shortly.
- June 20th: Welcome to CS161! If you're anxious to get started, download Eclipse and Java 1.6 (we'll go over this in class as well). Either Eclipse version 3.3 Europa or 3.4 Ganymede will work. The course textbook is Big Java, 3rd Edition by Cay Horstmann.
