About Me

Hello.

My name is Chris Schreiber, and I am in my final year as a Computer Science student after a brief, and disastrous, stint in Computer / Electrical Engineering.

General Info

My interests in the field of computer science include graphics and networking, though I hesitate to say I'm actually any good at either. Specifically I enjoy a lot of 3D modeling, openGL development, and a lot of packet level network code that never seems to get developed into anything beyond the tinkering stage. What am I passionate about? That's a difficult question. I don't think I'm particularly passionate about anything. Perhaps sarcasm counts? I'm not so much a passionate person: emotions are for bottling up! It's healthy, I assure you.

This thing has a pretty good spellcheck. Nice.

My Cat

Here, have a picture of my cat:

She's currently sitting on top of the rough draft I wrote for this post in another class and making this somewhat difficult.

Open Source Stuff

I've used Gentoo Linux for several years now, and have familiarized myself with the workings of the system about as much as is possible without actually involving myself in the development process. This is something I feared to do, lest actual competent people tell me to go away. Would I be interested in pursuing this further? Perhaps!

I've also used SDL - Simple Directmedia Layer - for several small projects. I like it; I find it easier to use than pure openGL for 2D tasks, but it seems to have fallen out of favor with some people lately.
