Exams: (Graded by TA and Prof)
#1 - Thursday, October 20 (Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4)
#2 - Thursday, November 10 (Chapters 4, 5, 6)
Final - Wednesday, 7 December - 2:00 PM to 3:50 PM, (Comprehensive- Ch. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7)
I do curve test grades if class average is below 72.
Homework: (Graded by TA)
Homework sets are to be collected at the start of the lecture class on the assigned date. Each problem will be graded as 10 points. Solutions will be provided after you turn in the hw. No late homework will be accepted. Work together, but do not copy someone else's paper. If copies are turned in of the same work, each grade will be 0 for the first occurrence. The second occurrence will result in an F for the course. I do not curve the HW grade. If you make 25% on HW, you will receive 25/100 as your grade. I want to penalize those who are not willing to work. Each homework will have 7 problems - 70 points total. You will have 7 hw sets, so you will have a total of 490 points on hw. Staple your hw together.
Labs: (Graded by TA)
Lab experiments written up, printed on computer paper, stapled, and turned in to TA. Team of 2 students - help each other but do not copy each other's work. The write-ups for the lab experiments can be found at http://eecs.oregonstate.edu/education/classes/engr201/index.html. A sample lab report is displayed at that web site. Experiments 1,2,3,4,5 - each 25 points. Experiment 6 - 50 points.
Quiz 1 and 2 - 15 points each. 205 total lab points.
Grading:
Exam 1 - 20% - 100 points
Exam 2 - 20% - 100 points
Lab - 20% - 100 points
Homework 20% - 100 points
Final Exam 20% - 100 points
500 Total Points
Course grade:
94 - 100 = A
90 - 93 = A-
87 - 89 = B+
84 - 86 = B
80 - 83 = B-
77 - 79 = C+
74 - 76 = C
70 - 73 = C-
67 - 69 = D+
64 - 66 = D
60 - 63 = D-
< 60 = F
The final course grade is fixed - I do not curve or shift people up or down based on how good looking they are, how wealthy, etc. I do not give extra credit during the course or after the end of the course to help pull your grade up - don't ask. I do not substitute the final for a bad MT test score - do not ask.
